With traditional radio going down the tubes and music stores closing their doors leaving Wal-Mart as the only place to buy music, it’s becoming more and more difficult to diversify your musical tastes. Thank goodness for the likes of Live365 and XM Satellite Radio.
And here’s a couple more great sites to add to your list. I have recently stumbled across Last.fm and Pandora. With Last.fm, you can aownload a plug-in for your favourite mp3 player software and then all you have to do is listen to music. Last.fm records every track you play, then recommends users who play the similar type of music. You can view artists similar to the ones you’re playing, find friends with similar music tastes, join groups, add tags to your favorite songs/bands and more. It also has a radio feature where you can listen to custom stations based on your played music, your friends music, or music tags. Pandora is similar, but very different. You start out by giving it an artist or song title, and it instantly begins playing you a radio station based on music similar to what you put in. You can then customize it further by adding more artists/song titles, voting on the songs you hear (like or don’t like), adding favorites, etc. You can also skip the songs you don’t want to hear.
Just a couple more great ways to discover new and great music!
