I don’t know what the deal was, but it took Matthew nearly 4 years to learn how to ride a bicycle. I think the problem is that during that 4 years, he may have spent about an hour total trying to learn. The boy would give up too easily. He would go out, and if he wasn’t riding within 5 min., he would get completely frustrated and give up, and put the bike away for several months. I could see a similar pattern with Alex emerging as well. I finally had to put my foot down. So I offered them a reward if they learned how to ride a bike. I had to do something, Matt had a school class bike trip coming up in 6 days. Well, I guess they just needed the proper motivation. The very next day, both boys were riding their bikes like pros. (Well, not pros, but you get the idea.) It was a milestone that took too long to achieve, but I felt rather proud as I watched them both ride up and down the road.
Next milestone…getting Jacob out of those stupid diapers!!
